National Get Outdoors (GO) Day celebrates America’s Great Outdoors and encourages youth and their families to spend time outside, exploring the natural world. This year, Mother Lode River Center and the American River Conservancy team up on Sunday, June 9th, to promote outdoor recreation in the greater Sacramento region.
National GO Day helps to combat the effects of indoor, inactive lifestyles which are fueling the nation’s obesity epidemic and threatening the health of future generations. It is an opportunity to influence lifestyles, especially among youth, in ways that emphasize physical, mental and other benefits derived from outdoor recreation in the Great Outdoors.
National Get Outdoors Day is celebrated throughout the country at over 130 sites. Locally, the Coloma-Lotus Valley plays host to its own celebration of the event on Sunday, June 9th.
