County supe on meds after needle prick at parkway | News

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA - A Sacramento County politician urges others to take care after he was stuck by a discarded hypodermic needle during a trash clean-up along the American River Parkway two weeks ago.

According to county supervisor Phil Serna, he was wearing gloves but still was pricked while picking up litter near park benches Sept. 15. He said there were children participating in the clean-up and it could have happened to them.

Serna is taking anti-HIV and hepatitis medication as a precaution in the event the needle was from an infected drug user.
