UPDATE: Man found dead in Rancho Cordova hotel standoff identified | News

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA – Patrick Michael Ewing,34, of Rancho Cordova was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his Rancho Cordova hotel room Wednesday night.

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies were in a standoff with Ewing for nearly five hours when they entered his room at the Extended Stay Hotel on 10721 White Rock Road.

Deputy Jason Ramos said Ewing got into an argument with another man staying at the hotel. Ewing then got a gun, went outside the other man’s room and fired multiple shots through the window just after 6 p.m.

Ramos said a woman and a baby were in the room with the man, but nobody was hit by gunfire.

Ewing went back to his hotel room and barricaded himself inside. Deputies evacuated nearby rooms as a precaution.

Deputies found Ewing dead around 10:45 p.m.
