RANCHO CORDOVA, CA - Two people were injured after a Sacramento Metro Fire truck and a car crashed at a Rancho Cordova intersection Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened around 3:40 p.m. at Sunrise Boulevard and Coloma Road with a Toyota Yaris, Sacramento Metro Fire Assist. Chief Walt White said.
A man and a 7-year-old were taken to the hospital for treatment; it's unclear what injuries they sustained.
The fire truck was traveling south on Sunrise Boulevard with lights and sirens, while the Yaris was traveling east on Coloma Road. The preliminary investigation suggests that the driver of the Yaris did not yield to the fire truck, White said.
The driver of the Yaris faces a citation for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
The fire truck did not suffer and visible damage; the Yaris is not usable at this time, White said.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
