Spend your Fourth on the Field!

Spend your Fourth on the Field!

Still searching for something to do this July 4th? Come out and celebrate our nation’s birthday on the baseball field! Raley Field will bring the neighborhood block party feel to the River Cats' home turf this Friday night.

In the evening, kiddos can enjoy a fun-filled kids area equipped with games, coloring pages, face painters, and inflatable structures; local food trucks, beer, and live music from Nunchuck Taylor will entertain grown-ups.

To cap off the night, find a comfy spot on the field and watch the night sky above the ballpark light up with a spectacular fireworks show synced to patriotic music at 9:30pm. (Blankets are okay; no chairs are allowed on the field.)

Come Swing with the Band

Come Swing with the Band

Take a sentimental journey with the Rancho Cordova River City Concert Band on Saturday, June 14th as they host a fundraising concert and dance at the Marriott Hotel in Rancho Cordova.

“Those Were the Days” features great “big band” sounds playing tunes including “Sentimental Journey,” “In the Mood,” “Tuxedo Junction,” and more.

If the sound of those great standards doesn’t get you on your feet, the instructors on hand to perform dance demonstrations and teach dance steps surely will.

The fun starts at 6 p.m. and continues until 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14th at the Marriott’s Grand Ballroom, 11211 Point East Drive.  Tickets are $20 each, and include hors d’oeuvres, Starbucks coffee, dessert pairings and wine tasting by R. Merlo Winery, and beer tasting by the American River Brewing Company of Rancho Cordova.  No-host cocktails will also be available.

Turning Trash into Treasure

Turning Trash into Treasure

It’s known that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure, but this summer’s Art of the Dumpster exhibit takes this idea to another level.

Commissioned by Power Inn Alliance and curated by the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, this collaborative project showcases the talents of 10 local emerging artists on a very unusual canvas – massive 22 foot long dumpsters. The result: colorful, abstract, interactive, larger-than-life pop-art masterpieces.
