1 arrested in deadly Gold River shooting | Crime
GOLD RIVER, CA - One man is dead after a shooting in Rancho Cordova off of Gold River Road Thursday night.
A call came into the California Highway Patrol just after 10 p.m. of a man threatening to shoot someone, Sacramento County sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos said.
The sheriff's air unit and Rancho Cordova police officers arrived and saw a man lying face down on the 11300 block of Amalgam Way.
Ramos said the man was shot, but it was unclear how many times.
While investigating, police detained a man standing in front of a business with a shotgun sitting next to him. Ramos said another man was detained when he drove up to the business.
The sheriff's department later identified the man with the shotgun as Anthony Vigil, 46. He was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Jail on one count of murder with no bail, Ramos said.
Investigators said they believe the shotgun recovered was the weapon used in the shooting.
The victim's name has not been released.
There were no other arrests as of Friday afternoon.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
