Layaway angels are busy making people’s dreams come true at Kmart. Kind-hearted people are anonymously heading into Kmart locations all across America and paying off layaway purchases.

The phenomenon began organically last year and is beginning to gain traction again for holiday 2012.Layaway angels in the Sacramento area this year have paid off more than $1,500 of strangers’ layaway contracts at stores in Redding, Santa Rosa, Rancho Cordova, Chico and Grass Valley. 

This year, Kmart is acknowledging the kind-hearted people who act as layaway angels by tracking the locations and monetary donations made throughout the season on the Kmart website.

Why: News10’s Monica Woods will be broadcasting live from Bel Air in North Natomas to encourage viewers to donate to hungry families in the area.

Viewers can join News10 and purchase a $10 bag of wholesome, nonperishable, fresh food and Raley’s will double the contribution to $20 benefiting local food banks. Donors can personally select where they want their donation to go, ensuring that 100% of their contribution will feed the hungry in their neighborhood.

Donate on-line during the ‘Day of Giving’  by going to raleys.com or Raley’s facebook page and Raley’s will donate an additional bag for each bag received!
