Shop Small Business Saturday, November 26th

Shop Small Business Saturday, November 26th

As a representative of the community, I have always felt that we needed something; something that would help push consumers to visit and support their local neighborhood's businesses. And here I find Small Business Saturday®. This Saturday, November 26th will be the 2nd annual Small Business Saturday®. It is
"a day dedicated to supporting small businesses on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year."

This national campaign is sponsored by American Express and is reminding people to shop at their local businesses. All you have to do is buy one thing from your favorite small business and that would help strengthen your community and its economy.

Let's Talk Turkey!

Donate a turkey to a family in need today.

Last year, the walk-in freezers at Volunteers of America’s Central Kitchen were crowded with more than 675 birds donated during our annual turkey drive. Today, with 10 short days until Thanksgiving, just a very lonely quartet of frozen turkeys await Volunteers of America clients celebrating their very real desire to give thanks.

Donations of fresh and frozen turkeys for our homeless and low-income clients will be accepted from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“The support of our shelter from our community has been overwhelming this year,” stated Dave Dickinson, Interim County Animal Shelter Director.  “During this season of giving, we want to give back by offering a break on adoption costs.
